How long have you been on DeviantArt?
Since Sept. 4, 2007. Almost 8 years now, I suppose?
What does your username mean?
It was taken from the Naruto Abridged series. My closest friends and I were the Phunk Sisters... it's embarassing.
Describe yourself in three words.
Introvert, creative, overthinker.
Are you left or right handed?
Righty.
What was your first deviation?
Oh, probably something embarrassing. Let's go see.
Bana Breemu Wallpaper by taylor-of-the-phunk
Well, not so embarrassing, just kind of terrible. Ah, my MS Paint days. And my Star Wars days.
What is your favourite type of art to create?
Well, I draw dresses. Clothes. Costumes, fashion, whatever. It's what I've always done.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
Probably like watercolor or another kind of paint.
What was your first favourite?
Well THIS one is embarassing.
At last, we are alone... by ElyonHeart
Ah, my Naruto days.
What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
Based on my folders, that would be historical fashion things. What a surprise.
Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Oh jeez. I loooove KmyeChan's amazing style. MisfitableGrae is my favorite lit writer.
If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
Probably nobody because I am a social anxiety ridden blob. Unless they wanted to teach me how to make things.
How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
I mean, seeing all the styles of art out there has really given me a broader perspective on what's possible. Nobody specific but still, a big effect.
What are your preferred tools to create art?
Anything I need to sew with, pencils, my tablet.
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
Nowhere I've been. I'll find it someday.
What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
The first time there was a Valentine exchange and I made a Doctor Who valentine and a lot of people liked it. I think that was the first time I got a lot of faves on anything.

Reflections on the MetroThe population of the Metro car is sparse at eleven in the morning; people talk. The mother with her baby and young son, talking to her friend or sister or cousin sitting down. The young man and woman speaking exuberant Chinese, a language like a song. The group of students in floral dresses and Converse that my mom says look European because of their scarves. They're rapidly spewing French in the way teenagers do, only I've only ever heard it in English. It's comfortable, each of us with our companions, more like a restaurant or a museum.
But at five thirty, at L'Enfant Plaza, when people are going home from work in their button-downs and suits and briefcases and iPods and tired eyes, it's different. Holding on to the silver bar above my head, I feel like I'm standing over the woman in scrubs holding her iPhone; I'm right by the doors they say not to lean on; it's crowded. And now everyone is silent, as if by proximity others can tell what they're thinking, and it's all they can do no

First, we have the piece that got me a DD several years after I wrote it! I haven't ever got much by way of official awards for any of my art, simply for lack of competing, I suppose. This was an incredible honor for me. I don't know if I would have begun writing in the way I do now if it weren't for literature pieces I read on dA.

Second, we have the Howl Jacket, which was the first costume I ever got paid to make for someone else: my first commission. I include this because I later made another one for someone who contacted me through dA.

EllaNyx's Octopus Dress by taylor-of-the-phunk
Thirdly, the octopus dress which represents the series of dresses I drew for various people. These were not commissions, just free inspiration for me. They described a dress, and I brought it to life. I think it's a good example of the way dA works as a community.

19-Teens Inspired Prom Dress 2012 by taylor-of-the-phunk
Fourth, the piece which is my most viewed and commented piece and what I believe was a masterpiece! My senior prom dress, styled after 1912-ish fashions. I absolutely adore this gown!

Lastly, the new era: I got a tablet for Christmas 2013 and this is probably my favorite piece I've made with it yet.

So, there's my deviantART story, or at least what I can tell of it in five pieces!

Well shiiiiiiiit. I didn't check my dA for a week and look what happens. Reflections on the Metro got a DD. I'm flattered, what can I say. It's weird; I don't usually identify myself as "a writer." I'm a costumer, a seamstress, I do crafts, and writing is just something else I do. And then I go and get a DD for writing, and something I wrote two years ago nonetheless. Awesome. I actually do consider that my best piece ever, so if that's the writing people will judge me on, I'm totally cool with that.

Anyway, that was an awesome ending to an otherwise kind of shitty day.
Love

Sweet Endings

2 min read
Gallery | Watch Me | Note Me | Facebook

I'm taking advantage of free journal skins again. This one is really lovely.

Summer is ending and I am savoring it. I'll be back in my favorite place in just over a week and I can't wait, but I'm also really enjoying the last days of summer. Spending far too much time at the coffee shop. Sitting in the fields at night. Driving around with pop radio on and the windows down. It's a beautiful life.

I also just got news from my friend who's stage managing Tartuffe this fall about the new costume professor and the costume designs for Tartuffe. Originally I was going to be angry if they were setting it at a different time than the original 18th century, because the 18th century is my jam, but apparently the concept is, as he wrote, "High Victorian and Art Nuevo" (sic) so I AM SO EXCITED!!!

I've been finishing sewing projects and embroidery commissions, and watching Orange is the New Black, which I love.

Happy Birthday, deviantArt, here's to many more birthdays. I'm happy to have spent 5 of your 13 years with you.

Hey y'all!
I posted taylor-of-the-phunk.deviantart… on Reddit and it got a lot of attention and a lot of people asking me to make them one. I'm currently done with one commission and will be moving on to another fairly soon.

I can make you rap embroidery!

My prices are thus:
About 15 letters or fewer (e.g. dat sh*t cray): $15
About 20 letters (e.g. this is f*cking awesome): $20
About 30 letters(e.g. ball so hard motherf*ckers want to fine me: $25
More than that (e.g. everybody knows I'm a motherf*cking monster): $30

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE
These prices are for the TEXT ONLY. Obviously you'll want some kind of floral design to round out the look. If you see a design on a finished piece that I've posted and you want me to do that one, I can. Or, you can leave it up to me, by telling me how much more you'd be willing to pay for the design and I'll make an appropriately detailed one.

Colors can be chosen as particularly as you like or leave them up to me. Embroidery floss comes in ALL the colors so there's not much limit there!
I finish the backs of the pieces by gluing a circle of felt in the back, to protect the back and cover unfinished edges.

SHIPPING
I will ship it as cheaply as possible to anywhere in the USA. Shipping rates tend to be around $3-$5 for something this light.

I have an Etsy and a PayPal, whichever way you'd like to get money to me. The best way to contact me for a commission is probably by sending me a note here on dA or possibly commenting on this journal.

NOTE ON LANGUAGE: I will embroider almost any profanities for you, except versions of ni**a or fa**ot. Sorry.
